Happy Hour
Join the Society of Professional Journalists – Detroit Chapter, for drinks and food during a happy hour event at The Anchor Bar on Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 7-9 p.m. Get together with fellow journalists from across Detroit, unwind after a long day at work, and learn more about our chapter and our FOIA Festival in October! We'll be in our own room, and as journalists, of course, we're going to feed you with totchos, wings and more.

FOIA Festival
The Society of Professional Journalists – Detroit Chapter is proud to present the first FOIA Festival, happening on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Wayne State University's Student Center. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel will give the keynote address at the festival. The goal is of the festival is to build greater awareness and understanding of the Michigan Freedom of Information Act and Michigan's Open Meetings Act for the purpose of government transparency and greater access to public records furthering the ideals…

This is the 10th year in which Metro Detroit journalists, their friends and supporters come together on one night to raise funds that will help out-of- journalists and journalists experiencing hardship. This year's event is brought to you by the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (Detroit NABJ), the Society of Professional Journalists-Detroit (SPJ Detroit), the Asian-American Journalists Association Michigan (AAJA), The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.
