The Society of Professional Journalists – Detroit Chapter is proud to present the first FOIA Festival, happening on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Wayne State University’s Student Center.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel will give the keynote address at the festival.

The goal is of the festival is to build greater awareness and understanding of the Michigan Freedom of Information Act and Michigan’s Open Meetings Act for the purpose of government transparency and greater access to public records furthering the ideals and values of a democratic society.

To encourage citizen advocacy for FOIA reforms in Michigan. To make FOIA reform a goal for all journalists – print, broadcast and digital. To strengthen reform advocacy with the inclusion of educational, community, legal, business, civic leaders and organizations.
