Jeremy Allen is an award-winning journalist and the Executive Editor of the Michigan Chronicle, where he has led the newsroom since 2023. A Pontiac, MI, native with nearly 20 years of experience, Allen has built a reputation for impactful storytelling and editorial leadership across Southeastern Michigan. He began his career as a reporter for Heritage Media and later served as a business and education reporter — and eventually a senior reporter — at The Flint Journal and The Ann Arbor News/MLive.
His work has earned numerous honors from the Michigan Press Association, Society of Professional Journalists, National Newspaper Publishers Association and the Associated Press, among others. Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s in sport management, both from Eastern Michigan University. Under his editorial leadership, the Michigan Chronicle has been recognized as one of the nation’s top Black-owned newspapers. Allen is passionate about elevating underrepresented voices and shaping narratives that drive conversation and change across Michigan.
