Investigative Reporting Fellowships

The Kapor Foundation is funding research focused on topics at the intersection of racial equity, accountability, and the tech ecosystem (i.e., K-12 and postsecondary computer science education, tech workforce issues, tech accountability/regulation, venture capital, and responsible AI).

Fellowship Types

1. dissertation/thesis fellowships to support graduate students’ final year of data analysis and writing for their research and
2. investigative reporting fellowships to support journalists’ deep research and reporting activities as they develop long-form narratives.

We are prioritizing research focused on national populations and trends or those in our priority cities and states: Oakland, CA; Atlanta, GA; and Detroit, MI. (Local research happening outside these regions is less likely to be funded in this fellowship.)
